 HeartQuest Takes a Fantastic Turn
It was a frigid morning, their breath turning to frost in the dawn air. Their horses shifted restlessly beneath them, obviously frightened by the smell of the dead in the valley below them, both moving and otherwise, and the faint din of clashing steel.

"How did things get so bad, George?" Eliza asked, breaking the silence. Her eyes were transfixed as she watched the legions of undead and human clashing below their vantage point. "King Peter seeking to conquer all the lands on one side and Ardavan Foulspawner trying to enslave all the races on the other. We can't stop one without indirectly helping the other."

Sir George shifted in his saddle slightly, his face pale and tired. "I don't know, Eliza. Perhaps it's just a cycle the world goes through. Every few generations some crisis must touch the world in order force change in the power structures. That offers no solutions for our immediate problem though."

Ricardo of Golune had edged his horse closer as the princess and the disgraced knight spoke of the conflict below. "I still think we're best off letting the two forces decimate each other, and remove them both when they are at their weakest."

Eliza and Sir George, with a few others in the party,d their mouths to start the argument afresh when the sound of cracking twigs in the underbrush caught their attention. George drew his sword while Ricardo clutched at his holy symbol and sparks crackled around Eliza's fingertips...
