-- Webmaster Rob --
As no doubt you can tell by the rapid growth of our
products pages, there has been a lot of change going on at Seraphim
Guard. The number of writers we have under contract to produce new
material is growing by leaps and bounds, and we don't anticipate it
stopping anytime soon. Some of our new products are closer to fruition
than others, but all look very exciting.
On a disappointing note, I have had the HeartQuest 2nd
Edition page taken down from the website. This should not, however, be
takes as a sign of bad news for the project. A new contract has been
signed regarding the project, and a press release on it will be
forthcoming which I will have posted to this website as soon as it is
ready. Until then, rest assured the project is not dead - just
undergoing a change of direction due in part to circumstances beyond
anyone's control.
The exciting thing, of course, is all the new games! It
constantly amazes me how many people are eager to write for a fledgeling
company like Seraphim Guard that caters to a niche market. Our entry
into the superhero business with World of Heroes
and Lady Pain is
showing exceptional promise. I've seen the manuscript of Anthony Fod's
Steel Roses - it's going to be a great book,
and if Mecha Aces (which he
is also writing) is just as good, then things look bright for Mecha's
future with this company. We've had vigorous debates about systems,
especially when it comes to supernormal powers in HeartQuest and magic
in the upcoming Spell-Slingers & Sword-Saints fantasy RPG, but overall
things look promising for both projects. If everybody keeps to their
deadlines and works at a decent pace then Seraphim Guard's line will be
growing by leaps and bounds in 2004, both in quantity, but hopefully in
quality and ultimately in popularity.
To those who have supported us and continue to support us,
thanks from the bottom of my heart. To those who are curious, try our
games. The HeartQuest Lite giveaway has been a tremendous success in
terms of number of downloads, and we've just launched two new
play-by-post HeartQuest games on our message boards that still have room
for players (in the case of my Sendai Academy game, LOTS of room). All
you really need to play is HeartQuest Lite, although having the full
game will be a big help and clarify your skill choices a lot more.
Don't forget sponsorships! They provide useful seed money
to get individual projects off the ground and carry the company through
the lean sales times between the release of new products. It costs us at
least $100 just to lay out a new product, not to mention what we pay
artists and the costs of things like web access. Sales can make up most
of it, but during lulls in the product cycle sales could be much
better.
Ally, don't forget to support our friends at Alter Ego
Software, Grey Ghost Games and Politically Incorrect Games! Alter Ego's
HeartQuest character generator (part of their FUDGE template) is a
wonderful tool that I am trying to get to all our writers. I'm sure
you'll find it extremely useful as well. Grey Ghost's FUDGE lines add a
lot of crunchy bits that can easily be incorporated into any of our
games - and many oif our unique elements can be incorporated into your
FUDGE game as well, so there's a symbiotic relationship here. The same
goes for PIG's Active Exploits and HeartQuest Diceless, which has
received the most favorable reviews of any HeartQuest product to date
and is especially good for your online shoujo gaming.
Don't forget our mailing lists and message board either!
You can be part of the Seraphim Guard community and be an active
participant in the development of many of our products. We are always on
the lookout for fresh ideas, honest critiques, and general fannish
goodness.
Enjoy your stay at our site, and please - try the fish!

We're finally putting out a shonen-anime game, with Mecha Aces,
our upcoming game of fighting robot action!
Also, we're working on a less-than-serious superhero sourcebook for Mutants & Masterminds, Lady Pain!
-- Webmaster Rob --
We've got some new settings in the works: Steel
Roses, for those of you who want giant robots in your shoujo;
Livin' On A Dream, a 'mini-series'
setting on the seaside; and World
Of Heroes, a Mutants & Masterminds
setting book.

We've got new fourms up, for
you to discuss our games, your
games, anime, manga, or anything else you feel like spouting off about. Please
try them out!
