HeartQuest: Romantic Anime Role-Playing in the World of Shoujo Manga

Richard, the American exchange student, looked deeply into Chiharu's dark eyes.
For some reason, he looked far less geeky to the girl than he had ever looked before.
"Richard-san," Chiharu stammered, "why are you looking at me like that? What's going on?"
"Because I have something to say. I love you, Chiharu."
Chiharu looked back stunned. "No, no you can't -"
"Please listen to me! Ive been thinking about you and only you ever since I came
to Japan. You're the most perfect girl, the most perfect person I've ever met. And I...."
Suddenly a male voice from behind interrupted them. "Hey! Gaijin! What the hell do
you think you're doing with Chiharu?"
They turned to see a sandy-haired boy, their classmate and Chiharu's childhood
friend, facing them. Blazing fury was in his eyes as he glared at Richard.
"Hiroshi!" Chiharu exclaimed. "What are you doing?"
"Chiharu, this guy can give you nothing but pain."
He then turned his full attention to the American. "
And if you hurt her, Richard, I'll kick your ass!"
HeartQuest, from Seraphim Guard, is a new roleplaying game of romance, intrigue and
adventure in the worlds of shoujo manga. The game covers the vast variety of the
shoujo field, from teen romance stories and magic girl adventures to fantastic
quests in bizarre new worlds.
HeartQuest uses the FUDGE ruleset to create rich, deep characters. Play a naive
schoolgirl looking for her first love, a powerful magical girl saving the world
from elemental evil, a suave and mysterious bishonen, or any other shoujo
character you can imagine. Form lasting relationships with other characters,
both player and non-player. Find the one love worth sacrificing everything for,
or leave a trail of broken hearts in your wake. Face evils you cannot begin to
imagine, or the horrors of the all-important high school entrance exams. Travel
to fantastic worlds, or cram yourself into a crowded bullet train to shop in Shinjuku.
HeartQuest is a complete game that includes everything needed to play except
FUDGE Dice (available from http://www.fudgerpg.com):
complete rules for character creation, sample campaigns and characters, plenty of
good advice for players and gamemasters alike, and extensive bibliographies of
comics, books, animation and web resources for the shoujo genre.
